What are the benefits?
Qigong is about regulation of the nervous system. Dance is about expression of the emotions. We will work with both and weave them together to strengthen and balance our inner world.
Learn how to transform your anger and frustration into strength and flexibility.
This workshop is designed to help you step into Spring with a desire to be seen, to build healthier relationships, and shake off the winter heaviness.
Who is this for?
This workshop is for anyone looking to balance their emotions, regulate their nervous system, and feel more balanced.Ā
ThisĀ workshop is open to all ages, levels, and abilities.Ā
IĀ hopeĀ you will leave inspired, with practical tools you can implement into your daily life, and a connection to the community we build together.
Why now?
Because now is the Spring! It is the time for new growth, to plant healthy seeds, and to let the world see you in your full expression.
It is also a challenging time in the world politically, socially, and economically. As a society, we over-communicate and under-connect. This workshop will help you connect to the earth, to your breath, and to each other.
What will we be doing?
We will work with physical practices and form to build strength and flexibility in the body. We will work with formless exploration and open improvisation to find our own style and expression.
We will use Daoist texts and teachings to help contextualize the Spring season and guide us in this contemporary moment.
We will engage with others in conversation to practice listening and build a group connection.
"Embracing the Tree is the single greatest physical practice we can do to stand up for ourselves and be in solidarity with others." - My Teacher, Daria
So we will learn and practice it!
What is Qigong?
Qi (Chi) means Breath, and Gong (Kung) means Work.
Dating back 4000 years, Qigong is one of the most ancient forms of Breath-Work.
Many of the physical practices in Qigong are movement meditations. These are fluid, continuous, and enjoyable experiences that bring the breath and movement into one.
What kind of 'Dance' will we be doing?
To start, Dance is another way of saying 'rhythm', 'flow', 'integration' and 'expression'.
Movement is walking up to the ledge; Dance is jumping off of it. To dance takes courage, but until we do it, we can't step into our full selves.
Being able to move and express yourself freely is the destination of the healing journey. And it is also the path. This means we have to practice the act of dance, and this workshop offers a safe and supportive place to do that.
What kind of 'Meditation' will we be doing?
Meditation is another way of focusing our awareness and turning our attention towards reality. We will use simple Daoist meditations as a way to stimulate our energy, direct our energy, and be a witness to our energy.
